Samsung Galaxy S7 Overview: Expandable Memory & Water Resistance

By | March 4, 2016

Samsung is the biggest manufacturer of the phones today all over the world. It has delivered a lot of very successful flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3 & the recent Galaxy S6 (Review). The reason why Galaxy S4 & Galaxy S5 didn’t become very popular was maybe that they came with the same design language as that of previous flagships and the premium feel was missing in those phones. This is the reason why Samsung decided  to change the design language of their phones completely when they launched the Galaxy S6 last year. Now, they have come up with the latest flagship Galaxy S7 and they have decided the retain the design that was given in the S6. The only little change in the design is that the corners are a little more rounded and the camera bump has been decreased. Keep reading this Samsung Galaxy S7 Overview to find all the information about this phone that you must know.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Overview: Other Information

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is a little bit different in design than the Galaxy S6, the differences can be seen on the back side of the phone. The edges on the back side are slightly curved as we saw in the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. The curve is definitely not as deep as it was in Galaxy Note 5. Also. the camera bump on the back side has also been reduced to a great extent.

The other important improvement is of the expandable memory and water resistance. The phone will support a microSD card of up to 200 GB and it will also be able to remain unharmed in water of 1.5 meters (nearly 5 feet) depth for about 30 minutes. It will be also completely resistant to dust.

There is also an always ON display given on the Samsung Galaxy S7 which can show some necessary information like the time, date, a mini-calendar and some other information every time you look at the phone. The biggest problem in Galaxy S6 was that of the battery life and keeping that in mind, Samsung has also increased the battery capacity a little bit. The fastcharging is still available and will be able to charge your phone up to 60% in half an hour.

While the other flagships have moved to USB Type-C, the Samsung Galaxy S7 still comes with a micro-USB port which can be an advantage for many people out there. But one thing that surely disappointed me about this phone is that there is no IR blaster on the phone this time. So, you will not be able to use this phone as a Universal Remote.

The phone will be launched in the international market before April 2016 and the company hasn’t disclosed the price of the phone yet.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Overview: Final Words

Samsung Galaxy S7 is overall a combination of the Galaxy S5 and S6. It is an upgrade to the Galaxy S7 and this upgrade contains everything that you wish Galaxy S6 had. We have seen a lot of innovations in the LG G5 (Overview) but unfortunately, Samsung decided to stick to the thing that people loved last year. The phone still feels great as Galaxy S6 itself was a great phone. But we will be able to comment on the performance of this phone only after we get a review unit in our labs.
